Deploring that during the last five months of Congress regime, two political murders took place in the constituency of minister Jupalli Krishna Rao, BRS working president and former minister K T Rama Rao demanded Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to sack him immediately from the state cabinet.
He participated in the funerals of BRS leader Boddu Sreedhar Reddy (50), who was murdered in Lakshmipalli village of Chinnambavi mandal. Earlier, BRS leader Mallesh Yadav was killed on the plea of land disputes. His wife pleaded with the higher police officials to punish those responsible for her husband’s death but to no avail.
KTR demanded that Jupalli Krishna Rao should be held responsible for these murders. He said that when Sridhar Reddy’s father mentioned Jupalli’s name in his petition the police were threatening him to remove the minister’s name.
He alleged that minister Jupalli has brought faction culture in Kolhapur, otherwise a peaceful place. He warned that if the police failed to take action against these murders, houses of ministers and Congress leaders would be besieged.
If the minister had no role in the murders, KTR advised him to cooperate with the police. He said that four days ago their party leaders met the DGP informing him about attacks and murders that are taking place in this constituency.
If two murders took place in the same constituency within a period of five months, without the minister’s involvement and encouragement, KTR said that his followers would not have resorted to such atrocities. He alleged that the police remained as mute spectators to ruling party atrocities.
KTR said that they have no faith in the local police system and demanded a special investigation agency be set up on serial killings. Otherwise judicial inquiry should be ordered. If there is no role of the government or the minister in these murders, then they should cooperate for an impartial investigation, he added.
Meanwhile, Excise and Tourism Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao said that the reason for the murder of BRS leader Sridhar Reddy was due to quarrels, land disputes and financial transactions. In a statement, the minister said that it was a heinous act to portray the killing of BRS working president KTR and the party leaders as a political murder, which was due to personal reasons.
