BRS Working President KT Rama Rao demanded that the state Congress government should set up a judicial commission on the SLBC tunnel accident. On the one hand, he said that while continuing the relief efforts more quickly, an investigation should be conducted against those responsible for the accident.
He deplored that a series of accidents have been happening in projects in the state since the Congress government came to power. He alleged the latest SLBC tunnel accident has caused a financial loss of hundreds of crores of rupees to the government. He demanded that the state government immediately set up a judicial commission under the leadership of a High Court judge on these accidents.
The former minister said that if a pillar in the barrage, which is part of Kaleshwaram, falls, Kaleshwaram will collapse, causing a loss of lakhs of crores. KTR expressed his anger that if the Sunkishala returning wall collapses, if the Pedda Vagu bridge collapses in Khammam, if the SLBC tunnel collapses, the government has not conducted any investigation and no action has been taken against those responsible.
He reminded that in the past, the same Congress party leaders, including the Chief Minister, had demanded the formation of judicial commissions on many issues. Even after they came to power in the state, he recalled that many legal commissions were formed. On behalf of the BRS party, he demanded the government to immediately form a judicial commission on the latest incidents.
KTR urged the government to make more efforts to immediately bring back those trapped in the SLBC tunnel with the help of the central government, with the help of the army and other organizations. He criticized that even after four days of the tunnel accident, Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy and Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy are still saying the same thing.
He expressed concern that eight people are missing and the machinery has suffered a loss of Rs. 300 crores. KTR alleged that the reason for this incident was that the government did not conduct any technical study before resuming the tunnel work. That is why, he said that they are demanding an investigation into the tunnel accident and that the government should provide justice to the affected families.
