Krishna Madiga says Injustice To Telangana Madigas In SC Classification

MRPS founding president Manda Krishna Madiga alleged that the Madigas were treated unfairly in the SC classification reservation shares proposed by the Telangana government. He strongly objected to giving a share of 9 percent in reservations for the Madigs and asserted that it should be 11 percent by whatever calculations.

He made it clear that Madigas should get 11 percent reservation regardless of population or backwardness. He suggested that the government should focus on this and correct the shortcomings in the distribution of reservations and move forward.

He said that if 5 percent reservation is given to Malas with a population of 15 lakhs, then 11 percent should be given to Madigas with a population of more than 32 lakhs. Manda Krishna Madiga alleged that the Malas were involved in a conspiracy in the classification and that Vivek Venkataswamy was responsible for the reduction in reservations for Madigas.

He criticized Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha, who was supposed to protect the rights of Madigas, for not caring at all. He made it clear that Rajanarsimha no longer can represent Madigas at all, and that he should be removed from the cabinet. Moreover, he suggested that two Madigas should be included in the cabinet in the expansion.

Stating that they had examined the SC classification in the states of Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Haryana, he said that the SC reservations in those states were classified into two groups. Similarly, Manda Krishna demanded that Madigas and Malas be divided into two groups in Telangana state also. If not, he said that they should be classified into four groups.

Welcoming the recommendation of the Shamim Akhtar Commission for classification and the government’s decision in favor of the classification of reservations, Manda Krishna expressed regret that the government rejected the recommendation made by the commission for the cream layer.

Meanwhile, he announced that the ‘Lakh Dappulu, Veyi Garulu’ program, which was planned to be organized in Hyderabad under the auspices of MRPS on the 7th of this month, is being postponed. He said that the program will be organized within 15 days and the date and venue will be announced later. He flagged that the government had not given permission, even though it was a cultural event and had nothing to do with the reservation classification.
