Jana Sena key leader Konidela Nagababu has filed his nomination in MLC polls from the MLAs quota on Friday. He submitted his nomination papers to the Election Returning Officer Vanita Rani in the AP Assembly. Minister Nara Lokesh supported Nagababu’s candidacy.
Ministers Nara Lokesh, Nadendla Manohar, Anakapalle MLA Konathala Ramakrishna, BJP leader Vishnu Kumar Raju, Tadepalligudem MLA Bolisetty Srinivas and Palla Srinivasa Rao participated in Nagababu’s nomination filing ceremony.
On this occasion, Nagababu thanked Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan for giving him the opportunity to contest as an MLC candidate, as well as Lokesh and Manohar for supporting his nomination.
It is known that Nagababu’s name has been finalized as one of the five candidates in the MLC polls from MLAs quota. His name has been finalized by the party chief and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan as the Jana Sena candidate.
However, earlier there were reports that Nagababu will be sent to the Rajya Sabha first. Although he was supposed to be sent to the seat vacated by Vijayasai Reddy’s resignation, the BJP insisted for that seat. Earlier, Chief Minister Chandrababu announced he will be inducted into his cabinet.
Meanwhile, the TDP is yet to decide its candidates for the remaining four MLC seats. There is a fierce competition in the TDP for these seats. About 25 people have pinned their hopes on the remaining four seats. Up to 10 people are making strong efforts.
For the past three days, there has been a lot of buzz around the assembly area among MLC aspirants. It has become complicated that some of the retiring MLCs, including those who sacrificed their seats in the last election, want to continue. Ashok Babu, BT Naidu, and Duvvarapu Rama Rao are hoping for another chance.
Visakhapatnam district TDP MLAs are demanding that Duvvarapu Rama Rao be given another chance as there is no one from the community in the council. Narasaraopet MP Lavu Srikrishna Devaraya has also requested Chandrababu to give a chance to Janga Krishnamurthy, who has left the YSRCP as well as the MLC seat.
Among the hopefuls are leaders like Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, Vangaveeti Radha, Pithapuram Varma, Pedakurapadu leader Kommalapati Sridhar, Beeda Ravichandra, KS Jawahar, Buddha Venkanna, Mopidevi Venkataramana, Peethala Sujatha, Tippeswamy, Mantena Satyanarayana Raju, and Nagulmira.
