The war of words between warring politicians in Telangana took an ugly turn after Congress Minister Konda Surekha made unsavoury remarks on former IT Minister and BRS working president KTR. She accused that KTR was the reason why actor Naga Chaitanya and actress Samantha parted ways with divorce. Her shocking comments received huge public condemnation as the entire film industry came forward to support Samantha and the Akkineni family on the issue. They hit out at Surekha’s insensitive allegations without any hesitation.
Konda Surekha’s foolish talk damaged the image and dignity of the Indian National Congress party not just in Telangana but all over the country because the issue made headlines all over with the united support of Tollywood. Reportedly, the party high command has expressed deep dissatisfaction over the needless statements made by the Minister and dragging an woman actor into the issue out of pure hatred on the opposition leader.
Though Konda Surekha immediately realised that her foot-in-the-mouth remarks have received massive outrage and tendered an apology, the controversy snowballed into a major political issue and hurt the reputation of the party in no time. Revanth Reddy’s government is now under immense pressure to take a strict action against her for the unpalatable remarks.
Now, the ongoing buzz in the political circles is that Konda Surekha might be forced by the high command to resign from her ministerial post with immediate effect. As there is a lot of pressure from the opposition parties and also due to the outright criticism from the public on the issue, there is no other option for the Congress party but to sideline her from the cabinet.
The party feels that instead of sacking the Minister, it would be better to put pressure on her to resign herself voluntarily to redeem the lost image to some extent. Whether she will be replaced during the upcoming cabinet expansion and will there be an immediate replacement needs to seen.
