Kodali Nani’s Key Aide Kali Arrested In TDP Office Attack Case

Gudivada police have apprehended Kali, a close associate of former minister Kodali Nani and the Krishna District YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Youth Wing President. Kali was arrested in connection with a violent attack on the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) office and its leader Ravi Venkateswara Rao, which occurred during the YSRCP’s tenure in power.

Kali, identified as the mastermind behind the attack, had been evading authorities while 13 other YSRCP workers linked to the case were arrested earlier and are currently in remand. Police tracked Kali down to Assam, where he was finally taken into custody.

The case stems from an incident on December 25, 2022, when Kali allegedly threatened TDP leader Ravi Venkateswara Rao over the phone, warning him not to conduct Vangaveeti Ranga’s death anniversary event under the TDP’s banner in Gudivada. Ignoring the threat, the TDP proceeded with their plans. That evening, it is alleged that followers of Kodali Nani attacked Ravi’s textile shop using petrol bombs and even attempted to set the TDP office on fire. Police intervention prevented further escalation.

After the fresh complaint, the case was reopened. This brought to light new investigations. Kali and other defendants were charged with several sections that included 143, 144, 145, 188, 427, 506, and Red With 149. While all other suspects had been caught before, Kali had escaped all this time till he was finally caught recently.

Now, the police are widening their scope to see whether the former minister Kodali Nani was involved in this attack planning. The case is gaining public attention, and more updates will come out based on the course of the investigation.
