Kishan Reddy Defends Centre’s Budget Allocations for Telangana Amid Criticism

Union Minister Kishan Reddy addressed concerns regarding Telangana’s allocation in the Union Budget, emphasizing that the budget is not state-specific but rather a national economic blueprint. Responding to questions raised about what Telangana has received, he clarified that the budget, presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, is designed to benefit the nation’s poor, middle class, and working-class citizens.

Reddy highlighted the government’s focus on poverty alleviation and infrastructure development. He noted that the Union Budget has provided significant relief to the middle class by exempting income tax for incomes up to ₹12 lakh, calling this a crucial step towards the vision of a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India).

Further clarifying Telangana’s stake in the central budget, Reddy pointed out that the state would benefit from the ₹1.50 lakh crore allocation for MSMEs over the next five years. He also mentioned that a ₹10,000 crore special program for startups would support Telangana’s burgeoning startup sector. Additionally, Reddy highlighted the provision of interest-free loans for up to 50 years, which he stated would be advantageous for the state.

Reddy concluded by asserting that Telangana, as an urban state, stands to benefit from central schemes like AMRUT, which are designed to bolster infrastructure development. He reiterated that every central reform is aimed at benefiting Telangana and its citizens.
