Kiran Abbavaram is leaving no stone unturned in promoting his upcoming romantic drama Dilruba, set for release on March 14, 2025. Riding high on the success of his previous film KA, which impressed audiences with its unique concept and gripping climax, the actor is now gearing up for his next big release.
Despite KA receiving widespread appreciation, an OTT platform declined to acquire its digital rights due to the film’s climax. Speaking about this unexpected hurdle, Kiran Abbavaram shared an intriguing insight in a recent interview without disclosing the platform’s name. “We ended up getting a lower-than-expected amount for KA’s digital rights. Nowadays, OTT platforms insist on watching the final cut before making a deal. In KA’s case, the final version wasn’t ready until the last minute, which might have made it difficult for them to evaluate the film properly,” he explained.
Shedding further light on the issue, the actor revealed, “For most films, the final copy is locked just before release. I approached an OTT platform with KA’s rough version, but they were uncertain about the climax. While they appreciated the rest of the film, the climax didn’t sit well with them, and the deal didn’t materialize. Personally, I had complete faith in the climax, so in hindsight, I believe it’s best not to present an unfinished version to OTTs.”
