Actor Kiran Abbavaram has addressed speculation regarding his physical transformation for his upcoming film Dilruba, stating that he did not develop a six-pack for the role. Directed by Vishwakarun, the film features Rukshar Dhillon as the female lead and is set for release on March 14. The team recently held a trailer launch event in Hyderabad, where Kiran spoke about the film, his aspirations, and upcoming projects.
Action in Dilruba Not Forced, Says Kiran
With the trailer showcasing high-octane action sequences, Kiran was asked if he is transitioning into an action-hero persona. Responding to this, he said, “Becoming an action hero is a dream, and I am working towards it. However, the action in Dilruba is integral to the storyline and not added for the sake of it.”
Six-Pack Speculation Addressed
Dismissing rumors of achieving a six-pack for Dilruba, Kiran clarified, “I never worked on a six-pack for this film. Achieving such a transformation isn’t easy. I had mentioned that in a project slated for 2027, where I will be playing a fisherman, I would focus on physical endurance. Some might have misinterpreted that statement.”
IPL and Release Timing Considerations
With Dilruba releasing just a week before the Indian Premier League (IPL) begins, Kiran was asked if the timing was a concern. “We believe a week’s gap is sufficient. We did deliberate on whether this was the right season for release but ultimately decided against postponing further,” he stated.
Character Siddhu’s Connection with Youth
Kiran described his role as Siddhu, emphasizing its relatability. “Siddhu is someone who remains true to his character, no matter how many people come and go in his life. He doesn’t say sorry or thank you easily. I hope some will connect with this trait. Also, after a breakup, people often see their ex as an enemy, but this film might make them reconsider how they would feel if their ex re-entered their life.”
Impact of Ka’s Success on Dilruba
Since Dilruba follows the hit film Ka, there is speculation about whether it will benefit from its predecessor’s success. Kiran stated, “I am unsure how much Ka’s success will impact Dilruba. I haven’t thought about it.” He also revealed that nearly 10% of the film was reshot to enhance the final product.
Upcoming Rayalaseema-Based Project
Kiran confirmed that discussions are ongoing for a film set against a Rayalaseema backdrop. “I will definitely be doing a Rayalaseema-based story. I will also be wearing a panche for the role, and I am eagerly looking forward to it,” he shared.
