Key BRS Leaders Malla Reddy, Theegala Krishna Reddy Met Chandrababu Naidu

In a dramatic development of politics in Telangana, key BRS leaders, who were earlier with TDP, met AP Chief Minister and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu on Monday at the latter’s residence and expressed their keen interest to return to their original party.

The leaders include former minister and Medchal MLA Chamakura Malla Reddy, his son-in-law and Malkajgiri MLA Marri Rajasekhar Reddy and former Hyderabad Mayor Theegala Krishna Reddy. Though they said it as a ‘courtesy call’, there are indications that they want to join TDP.

They said that they asked Chandrababu Naidu to allow letters from Telangana legislators also for Tirumala darshan. After the meeting with Chandrababu, former MLA Theegala Krishna Reddy announced that he will soon join the Telugu Desam Party.

He emphasized that he will bring glory to the TDP in Telangana. He praised Chandrababu as the leader who always put thrust on development and said that Cyberabad and Hyderabad have developed a lot during Chandrababu’s regime.

Earlier, Malla Reddy held a meeting with his key followers. In this meeting, the issue of joining TDP was discussed. There are reports that Mallareddy is thinking of returning home. It may be recalled that Malla Reddy was also in TDP till 2014.

He was elected to the Lok Sabha as TDP candidate in 2014. But, after the formation of the BRS government in the state, he later joined that party. He also served as a minister in the KCR cabinet. But once again there is speculation  that Malla Reddy will join TDP.

After the BRS suffered a heavy defeat in the assembly elections, the situation changed dramatically. BRS and BJP are strategically moving to gain control over Telangana. In this order, BRS leaders are jumping into other parties. It is precisely in these circumstances that the news that former Minister Malla Reddy is also preparing to join TDP has become a big sensation in the state politics.

Moreover, Malla Reddy and his family members have been facing Income Tax raids and also land grabbing allegations. By joining TDP, it may be believed he can get protection both from the Congress government in the state and also the BJP government at the center.

On the other hand, Telangana TDP state president post has been vacant for nearly a year. Chandrababu Naidu said to be looking for a resourceful leader to fill up the post. In this regard, Malla Reddy is said to be viewed as a potential leader to fill up the gap.
