Stage is almost set ready for the return of senior BRS leader and Parliamentary Party leader Dr K Keshava Rao and his daughter G. Vijayalakshmi, who is now GHMC Mayor, returning to the Congress party.
Sources said Keshava Rao called on BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao at the latter’s Erravelli residence on Thursday, where the duo are learnt to have discussed the party’s internal affairs and political scenario in the State as well as at the national level.
Later, Keshava Rao expressed his desire to rejoin Congress, where he began his political career. However, KCR has reportedly expressed his uneasiness over his decision and reminded him of the importance given during the 10-year BRS regime in the state.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Keshava Rao said Chandrashekhar Rao and himself shared mutual respect for each other. He was APCC President and also a Rajya Sabha member while in Congress. When the Congress refused to nominate him to Rajya Sabha for the second time, he resigned from the party and later joined TRS.
In TRS he was twice sent to Rajya Sabha, besides making him party leader in the Parliament. Moreover, he is the Secretary General of the party. At the same time, his daughter was made GHMC Mayor.
Now, after Congress returned to power in the state, he seems to be attracted towards his original party. Recently, Congress Telangana In charge Deepa Munshi met him and his daughter and invited them to join Congress. He is likely to join Congress on Saturday.
Meanwhile, his son Viplav Kumar said that he will continue in BRS and declared his leader will be KCR only. He made it clear that he did not share the idea of his father and sister joining the Congress. Keshava Rao appreciated the decision of his son Viplav Kumar to continue in the BRS.
