KCR Calls on BRS Workers to Become “Mini KCRs” and Rules Out Alliances

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) requested his party members to turn themselves into “mini KCRs,” endorsing strong leadership and valour as the party prepares for future political battles. During his address in a meeting with Ramagundam leaders at his farmhouse, KCR likened Telangana to honey that attracts flies, highlighting the increasing political attention the state is attracting. Looking at his ten-year ordeal of protecting Telangana, he realized the state today grapples with huge problems calling for tactful measures.

Self-assured about the BRS’s future in the coming elections, KCR dismissed political alliances, pointing out the party’s strength to win independently. To add to the comparisons made with Andhra Pradesh, he declared that Chandrababu Naidu could not have come to power without coalition backing, while BRS is strong enough to be elected independently. He also attacked Congress, claiming the party was incapable of even meeting one promise and reminding all of the fact that political power can never last long.

Digging deep into Telangana’s past, KCR went over the state’s merger with Andhra Pradesh under duress and the subsequent betrayal by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. He reiterated that, in spite of increasing pressure from the central government, he had remained steadfast in safeguarding Telangana’s interests.

KCR’s assertion of a no-alliance approach follows reports of efforts to initiate a tie-up with the BJP failing and speculations in the past few days on KTR attending a meeting of the opposition Congress-led one. Political pundits perceive this to be a planned move to make the BRS independent and project its image even more strongly ahead of the coming elections in the state.

This powerful declaration by KCR not only establishes the tone for the coming electoral fight but also reflects the BRS’s determination to lead Telangana through its present predicaments while retaining its independence in the political arena.
