KCR and Harish Rao believe that Revanth Reddy is hatching a plot to get them imprisoned using the Kaleshwaram report. Both the leaders are worried that if the report is tabled in the Assembly, it would be seen as their implicit endorsement of its contents. To avoid this, they promptly filed petitions in the High Court, seeking the court to invalidate the report of the Justice P.C. Ghosh Commission. Their contention is that the commission was formed out of politics and has no legal mandate. The High Court will reportedly hear these petitions on Wednesday.
As a response, Revanth Reddy has said he would move the Kaleshwaram report in the Assembly and hold an extensive debate. He said all members will be given a 650-page copy of the report to study thoroughly, following which the Assembly will take a decision on further course of action. In spite of this, KCR and Harish Rao moved at lightning speed, moving petitions in the High Court, apprehending that any action taken after the presentation of the report in the Assembly would go beyond the court’s jurisdiction.
But some believe that KCR and Harish Rao have erred strategically by agreeing to the formation of the commission and going so far as to appear before it. The question now is how they plan to plead the illegality of the report in the High Court when they have already cooperated with the proceedings of the commission.
This ongoing political drama is set to unfold in the coming days, with significant legal and political consequences on the horizon.
