Investigation agencies are leaving people like JDS MP Prajwal Revanna, who has been accused of sexually abusing multiple women, to abscond while targeting opposition leaders like her, deplored BRS MLC K. Kavitha, while she appeared for the hearing in a money laundering case.
The BRS leader, facing charges in the money laundering case registered in connection with the alleged scam in scrapped Delhi liquor policy, was produced in Delhi Rouse Avenue Court on expiry of her remand period.
“They have let people like Prajwal Revanna leave the country and arrested people like us. It is injustice and people of the country should note this,” she said, after the court hearing Hearing the case, Special Judge for CBI and ED cases, Kaveri Baweja, extended the custody of the Telangana MLC till May 14 after she was produced before the court on the expiry of her remand.
During the proceedings, the Enforcement Directorate told the court the investigation was at a crucial stage and it may file a chargesheet against Kavitha within a week.
Prajwal, a suspended JDS MP, travelled to Germany on a diplomatic passport. The Ministry of External Affairs said that no political clearance was either sought from or issued by the MEA regarding his travel.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging the Union government to cancel the diplomatic passport of Prajwal and ensure his return by making use of diplomatic and police channels. But, the Government of India is yet to respond.
