BRS MLC Kavitha has strongly found fault with Congress government’s BC census that concluded 46.2 percent of BCs in the state. According to the government, she said that it will make up 56 percent with 10 percent BC Muslims. But, according to her, by any calculation there should be 50 to 52 percent of BCs in Telangana.
Kavitha demanded that the government should put the survey data for review if it is truly sincere towards the BCs and 3.5 crore survey documents be made available for public scrutiny, by giving15 days for the scrutiny.
Kavitha recalled that according to the 2011 census, Telangana has 83 lakh houses and a population of 3.5 crore. She revealed that the comprehensive family survey conducted by the then CM KCR in 2014 showed that there were 1.03 crore houses and a population of 3.68 crore. In the survey conducted at that time, 20 lakh houses had increased.
She asked how many houses and how much the population should have increased in the ten years from 2014-2024? She said that the recent comprehensive caste census conducted by the Congress government shows that there are only 1.15 crore houses and the population of the state is 3.70 crore. If 20 lakh houses increased from 2011 to 14, then about 60 lakh families should increase in the ten years from 2014, she added.
Even with these sloppy calculations, Kavitha demanded that a bill be introduced in the assembly to increase the reservations for BCs. She demanded that elections should be held only after the reservations are increased. She criticized the Congress party for committing a similar fraud in Bihar and Karnataka.
Kavitha said that there is a difference of 21 lakh BC population between the total population survey and the current survey. She revealed that the total population survey showed that the OC population was very low, and now it is seen to be much higher. She wanted the government to tell what is the reasoning behind this? She questioned whether the population of BCs, SCs and STs will decrease if the population of OCs increases?
Kavitha criticized the government for conducting the survey through the Planning Department even though it was requested that the caste census be conducted through a dedicated commission. She said that it is in everyone’s mind that the survey was not conducted properly. He revealed that many people in every village are saying that their houses were not visited for the survey.
