Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced key initiatives for the film industry as part of the 2025-26 state budget. The government has capped movie ticket prices at ₹200 for all shows across theaters in the state, aiming to make cinema more accessible to the public.
In a move to promote Kannada cinema, the government will launch a state-run OTT platform. Additionally, 150 acres in Mysuru have been allocated for the development of an international-standard film city, with ₹500 crore earmarked for its construction.
Presenting the budget in the Assembly on Friday, Siddaramaiah outlined a total expenditure of ₹4,08,647 crore, focusing on infrastructure, cultural promotion, and women’s empowerment. The decision to regulate ticket prices has been widely welcomed by the public.
