The prequel to the 2022 Kannada blockbuster Kantara, titled Kantara: Chapter 1 and starring Rishab Shetty, is scheduled for a theatrical release on October 2. The film’s production team has dismissed recent rumors of a delay, affirming that the project is progressing as planned.
In an official statement, the team said, “We are completing the shooting schedules as intended, and the film will release on October 2 as announced. We urge fans to avoid speculation and refrain from sharing unauthorized information. We appreciate your patience and trust.”
Directed by and starring Rishab Shetty, the original Kantara was produced on a budget of ₹16 crore and earned over ₹400 crore at the box office. The prequel will explore events preceding the original film, focusing on the lore of Panjurli, which plays a crucial role in the storyline.
Following the success of Kantara in Kannada and its dubbed versions in other languages, the makers are preparing for a simultaneous multi-language release of Kantara: Chapter 1, aiming for a pan-Indian reach.
