Kangana Ranaut Invited Priyanka Gandhi To watch Her Upcoming Film `Emergency’

Bollywood star heroine and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut’s latest movie ‘Emergency’ is scheduled to release on January 17, after bypassing severe hurdles. The movie is based on the political life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, in which she is playing the lead role of Indira Gandhi, besides directing the film.

Kangana said that she has asked Indira Gandhi’s granddaughter and MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to watch her movie. She is participating in the promotional events related to the movie and recently shared this interesting fact in an interview.

“When I met Priyanka in Parliament recently, I asked her to definitely watch our film Emergency. She replied that she would try it. I told her that she would definitely like this film”, she said.

The political drama is written, directed, and co-produced by Kangana. The film delves into the emergency imposed by the late PM for 21 months from 1975 to 1977 and its aftermath.

“It is a sensitive matter. We portrayed the character of Indira Gandhi very politely. While doing research, I learned many new things. I came to know about Indira Gandhi’s relationship with her husband, children and close friends. I understood how she dealt with her enemies. I took enough precautions to avoid touching on such matters,” Kangana added.

“I made this film with the intention of showing the situation during the Emergency in a realistic way. However, I liked the full version of the film very much. That is what I wanted to show to the audience”, she said.

But, Kangana deplored that due to the latest developments, the censor cuts were made on the film. “I have no problem with that. Because, we did not make this film to comment on anyone. This is not such a film either. They cut some episodes related to history. In fact, it does not show any effect on my film. The story and the message in it have not been damaged anywhere,” Kangana said.

She has released the trailer of the much awaited film Emergency on 6th of this month. Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, Kangana posted the less than two-minute-long trailer. Zee Studio also shared the video on their YouTube channel.

Kangana, who plays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the film, is seen telling the President that she is the “cabinet”. Anupam Kher plays Jayaprakash Narayan, who writes her a letter from the jail. Shreyas Talpade is seen as the late Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
