Bollywood filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming epic film ‘Ramayana’ has become one of the most anticipated films in Bollywood, thanks to its star-studded stellar cast. Since its announcement, the project has created a lot of buzz, especially around the casting choices for iconic characters from the epic.
According to the latest reports, Kajal Aggarwal is rumored to be playing Mandodari, the wife of Ramayana, in the film. In a recent development, it is revealed that Kajal has recently completed a look test for Mandodari and has even begun shooting for her role.
Originally, it was speculated that Sakshi Tanwar would take on the role of Manodari, but recent updates suggest that the filmmakers chose Kajal for her screen presence and her strong presence across all languages.
As we already know, it is already confirmed that Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor will portray Lord Rama, while Sai Pallavi steps into the role of Sita. KGF star Yash is said to be cast as Ravana.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film is being shot in two parts, with the first installment scheduled for a Diwali 2026 release and the second part expected to hit theaters by Diwali 2027. Currently, production is rapidly at a brisk pace, with key scenes set in Lanka being filmed.
On the work front, Kajal was last seen in Salman Khan’s Sikandar, directed by AR Murugadoss. She is also set to appear in another mythological drama, ‘Kannappa,’ sharing the screen with Manchu Vishnu, Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, Preity Mukundan, Mohan Lal, and many other acclaimed actors.
