Tollywood’s mass hero Jr NTR, known for his high-energy performances, is now reportedly gearing up to surprise fans with a powerful and inspiring role. Buzz from Bollywood circles suggests that NTR will play the lead in Made in India, a biographical film based on the life of Dadasaheb Phalke, the father of Indian cinema.
Currently occupied with major projects like War 2, a film with director Prashanth Neel, and the upcoming Devara 2, NTR is also said to have shown serious interest in this emotionally driven biopic. The film will be presented by SS Rajamouli, his son SS Karthikeya, and Varun Gupta of Max Studios.
Sources reveal that after listening to the script, NTR was deeply moved by the untold aspects of Phalke’s life and immediately agreed to take on the role. Dadasaheb Phalke, born in 1870, directed India’s first full-length feature film, Raja Harishchandra, in 1913. Despite directing 95 films, his journey was filled with struggle—selling his assets, importing equipment from London, and even parting with his wife’s jewelry to fund his films.
Tragically, Phalke spent the last six years of his life in poverty and ill health, a stark contrast to the legacy he left behind. The film will explore both the emotional highs and heartbreaking lows of his life.
Though NTR has mainly acted in mass entertainers, his fans are eager to know how he incorporates emotional depth into a character as different from his typical roles. While some might struggle to picture him in a slow-burning, dramatic film, many of them think that he has acting talent enough to leave a lasting impression.
With Rajamouli’s creative support behind the scenes, expectations are high. The choice of director will also be crucial in capturing the essence of Phalke’s story.
If executed well, Made in India has the potential to become a milestone in NTR’s career—an emotional and inspiring tribute to the pioneer of Indian cinema.
