Former IPS officer and President of Jai Bharat National Party VV Lakshmi Narayana has questioned Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s foreign tour at a time the state is facing incidents of post-poll violence.
He deplored that after polling riots broke out in many districts and factions of TDP and YCP attacked each other at several places. He wondered but neither the government, nor these parties took any action in this regard.
He asked how can the Chief Minister go on a foreign tour in such circumstances without bothering the law and order scenario in the state. He expressed concern that even ministers are also not seen anywhere attempting to control the situation.
He reminded that the Chief Minister and Ministers should make efforts to restore peace and security in the state. But, none of them seems to be bothered by the frightening situation at various places. He said that he was disturbed seeing live scenes on television channels when goons were making havoc on roads without any fear.
Lakshmi Narayana expressed concern that even leaders of political parties attempted to control their cadre. He asked why no party suspended such goons, who took part in violent incidents? Even probationary orders under Section 144 too remained as a farce and not implemented properly.
Former Joint Director of CBI expressed concern over the role played by `money power’ in these elections. He said that money was spent extravagantly with the aim of winning. He cautioned the administration to take necessary precautionary measures on June 4, day of counting of votes to ensure peace and security of people.
He suggested that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) should go in depth of violent incidents, complete their investigation quickly and give a comprehensive report. Strict action should be taken against those responsible, he added.
