Famed Hollywood director James Cameron, known for creating the immersive world of Avatar, has confirmed he will continue directing the upcoming films in the franchise. The third installment, titled Avatar: Fire and Ash, is scheduled for release on December 19.
Amid speculation that Cameron might step away from directing Avatar 4 and Avatar 5, the 71-year-old filmmaker clarified in a recent interview that he remains in good health and will helm both projects. He added that completing the two films could take another six to seven years.
The director also hinted at story concepts for two additional films in the Avatar series, though their production remains uncertain. The franchise began with the 2009 release of Avatar, followed by Avatar: The Way of Water in 2022. Avatar 4 is slated for release in 2029, and Avatar 5 in 2031.
