YSRCP supremo YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has always been criticised for not maintaining good affinity with his cadre. Even his own MLAs and MPs weren’t able to meet him to discuss about the ground level issues when he was the Chief Minister of the state. Many of them openly expressed displeasure how Jagan’s coterie and officers in CMO treated them whenever they sought his appointment.
Now that the party suffered a humiliating defeat, Jagan appears to have decided to come closer to the people like he did when he was in the Opposition prior to 2019. But those who are around him seem to have not learnt any lessons from the embarrassing results and this is further damaging his image.
As Jagan is now available for his cadre after five years, many supporters of YSRCP started coming to Tadepalli palace to meet him and put forward their grievances. Unfortunately, his personal security staff treated them with disdain and high-handedness. Viral videos showed that one security personnel snatched the mobile phone of a visitor and threw it away aside.
Many supporters argued with the security staff and were deeply upset with their abusive language. They left the place disappointed as the security didn’t allow them to meet Jagan without prior appointment. Some of them raised slogans and demanded Jagan to come out of the palace. As these videos are going viral all over, YSRCP followers expressed that the overaction on the part of security is unwarranted and need to addressed immediately.
It is a known fact how Jagan’s Tadepalli palace was cordoned off for public glare in the last five years in the name of security. There was no access to anyone in the close vicinity and all roads surrounding his palace were under tight police vigilance. After the new government was formed, all the unnecessary barricades and needless diversions were removed.
In the last five years, Jagan was hardly available for his party supporters. Except for his public gatherings, he didn’t dedicate any time to meet the public. After the disastrous election results, many political analysts opined that one of the major reasons for YSRCP’s ignominious defeat was that Jagan was unable to mingle with common people when he was in power.
