Former Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s meeting with Governor Syed Abdul Nazeer, along with his wife YS Bharathi at Raj Bhavan on Monday evening evokes political significance.
Though he is claiming it as a courtesy meeting to enquire about the Governor’s health, who had recently fallen ill, he has reportedly mentioned several issues complaining against Chandrababu Naidu’s government.
His visit was considered to be a strategic step in the midst of AP Government’s pro-active pursuit in the AP Liquor Case, in which several of Jagan’s close associates were arrested and moreover his name was mentioned in the charge sheet alleging as the ultimate beneficiary of the entire scam.
Jagan also mentioned the government’s unnecessary restrictions on his district tour programmes, describing it as a failure of law and order scenario in the state. The sources revealed that the liquor case, recent arrests and the law and order situation in the state were also discussed in this meeting.
Jagan has reportedly handed over some important documents to the Governor in this regard. These documents include detailed information on the YSR Congress Party’s views on the liquor case, the ongoing attacks on their party leaders in the wake of CBI/ED raids, and the recent searches conducted on Bharti Cements.
Jagan has seen a change in his strategy amid a series of cases against YCP leaders. In an attempt to initiate a counter attack on the coalition government, Jagan, who has identified the coalition government as a target, is seen moving forward with new calculations.
Meanwhile, Jagan is said to be ready to announce a new course of action against the state government after the crucial meeting of the party’s political affairs committee on Tuesday. In this meeting, whatever developments occur due to the cases in the coming days, the party will give direction on the steps to be taken. Action will be finalized for protests against government failures.
It seems that Jagan is getting ready to start district-wise tours to interact with the party cadre from August 15. A decision to this effect is likely to be taken today. Jagan will visit Nellore on the 31st of this month to meet former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy who is in jail there.
From there, a schedule has been finalized for Jagan to visit the house of senior leader Prasanna Kumar Reddy.
Jagan has also decided to visit Mithun Reddy in Rajahmundry jail on the 5th of next month.
