Former Chief Minister and YCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s three-page letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking his appointment raises several questions in political circles. Alleging deteriorating law and order conditions in the state during five-weeks of Chandrababu Naidu- led alliance government, he pointed out that the constitutional systems have collapsed and the government machinery has become weakened in the state.
Moreover, he alleged that the TDP government is conspiring to eliminate YCP from the state. Many are wondering who is really conspiring against Jaganmohan Reddy? TDP and Jana Sena only asserted their allegations of anarchetic regime of Jagan’s rule and hardly any specific action was initiated against him.
On the other hand, the future of any political party lies in the hands of the people. If the people trust the leader then the political party will survive. Only two months ago people voted against him reflecting their anger against his governance. Even hard-core supporters of YCP also silently revolted against him.
In 2019 also TDP was pushed into a somewhat similar scenario of dis-trust by the people. But with work and severe victimization from the ruling YCP, the TDP has bounced back with much more public support. Now, several of Jagan’s ministerial colleagues and his party former MLAs are now blaming his governance. Most of them are seen in search of some other political shelter.
Through the letter, Jagan expressed deep grief that there is a very scary atmosphere in the state and most barbaric incidents are happening failed to state any incident that is comparable to the anarchistic attitude exhibited during his regime. Nowhere, law enforcement authorities are seen acting like agents of the ruling party, unlike during the previous regime.
After the 2019 elections, Jagan predicted that there would be no political future for TDP.. There is a campaign that all the leaders of that party are leaving the party. But after five years, the scene was reversed. Chandrababu had struggled hard to protect the party and its cadre no matter how many ups and downs it has faced.
Many felt that Jagan’s letter indicated Jagan’s worry on how to protect his party and its cadre in the atmosphere of `distrust’ against his leadership among his followers.
