Jagan sticks To Sajjala, Irks YSRCP cadre

YSR Congress party supremo and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy appears to have not realised about the damage done by his so-called coterie which is believed to have blinded him of the ground realities and ultimately led to the downfall of his party in the recent assembly elections. This is evident with the decisions taken by Jagan after the humiliating defeat. The latest one is appointment of Sajjala Rama Krishna Reddy as the co-ordinator of the party.

There has been widespread outrage among the ranks of YSR Congress party over the undue preference that was accorded to leaders like Sajjala Rama Krishna Reddy who worked as the advisor for the government when Jagan was in power. After the election results were out, many expected Jagan to realise his mistakes and discard off all the insignificant leaders who did more harm than good to the party. But, that seems to be not the case as Jagan is still banking on his coterie.

Despite facing massive criticism from the supporters of YSRCP, Sajjala continues to call shots in the party at the behest of Jagan Mohan Reddy. He is taking active participation in the party meetings that are being held in Tadepalli. He is rubbing shoulders with Jagan and continuing his role as a key advisor to the party in various matters.

After the humiliating defeat, the party cadre wanted Jagan to make sweeping changes. They complained that leaders like Sajjala, Vijay Sai and Chevireddy misled and misguided Jagan and demanded their immediate expulsion from key posts and induct fresh blood into the party. But, Jagan continues to vouch for these seasoned leaders.

Sajjala has reportedly played the role of a shadow administrator when Jagan was Chief Minister. He also controlled the entire cabinet and influenced many decisions taken by the government in the last five years. Many MLAs and MPs expressed displeasure over the way Sajjala and others handled the internal affairs of the party.

Whatever may be the reason for Jagan’s blind trust on Sajjala, the cadre of YSRCP is not happy with the latest appointment.
