Jagan’s Surprising Calm at I-PAC: What’s Behind the Brave Face?

Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy, who was not seen after the election campaign was concluded and maintaining scotic silence over the polling trend visiting I-PAC office in Vijayawada on Thursday tried to keep a `brave face’ on poll outcome.

Hours before leaving on a foreign tour, he tried to present unparalleled confidence in the possibility of his party retaining power, he claimed that the party would win more seats than it won in 2019. It may be recalled that the YSRCP took over 151 seats out of 175 in the assembly and 22 seats in the parliament last time.

Three days after the polling, he visited the office of I-PAC (Indian Political Action Committee) in Vijayawada and conveyed a formal `thank giving’ for providing electoral strategy services in the last one and half years, he lauded the services of I-PAC.

The post-poll violence only exposed restlessness in the YCP leaders and cadre, who are fearing a possible disaster. But they were shocked after the Government of India and also the Election Commission of India (ECI) reacted very wildly. ECI had summoned both the Chief Secretary and DGP to New Delhi.

Moreover, ECI directed the Home Ministry to keep additional central forces in the state for a fortnight after counting of votes, expecting many more violent incidents. All such developments are only likely to demoralize the ruling party activists further.

After polling several fire-brand ministers and YCP leaders also kept silent, hardly coming before the media with fiery accusations against the opposition leaders. CM Jagan seems to be worried that if the same demoralized situation is allowed to continue, it would be difficult for the party to mobilise polling agents on the polling day, at least in some districts.

That’s Why he reportedly makes use of his customary visit to I-PAC office, to boost the morale of the party cadre stating that they would return to power with numbers that would surprise everyone in the country.

He said that YSRCP landslide victory is certain in the just concluded elections and the results of June 4 will make the entire country stand up and look at Andhra Pradesh.

To give confidence that their government will continue, he also said that  the YSRCP government will significantly improve the lives of people in the next five years. He said YSRCP’s journey with IPAC will continue in future as well.
