Originally hailing from Sri Lanka, Jacqueline’s remarkable journey from being a beauty queen to one of Bollywood’s most sought-after stars is a testament to her talent, resilience, and global appeal.


Early Life and Education

Jacqueline comes from a vibrant multicultural family. Her father, Elroy Fernandez, is a Sri Lankan Burgher, and her mother, Kim, has Malaysian and Canadian roots. She grew up in Bahrain as the youngest of four siblings, with two older brothers and one elder sister. Jacqueline completed her early education at Sacred Heart School in Bahrain, excelling academically and displaying an innate curiosity for languages and cultures.

Her passion for communication led her to pursue a Mass Communication degree at the University of Sydney in Australia. Further enriching her global outlook, she studied Spanish and refined her French and Arabic at the Berlitz School of Languages.


Pageantry and Modeling Career

In 2006, Jacqueline was crowned Miss Universe Sri Lanka, representing her country at the Miss Universe 2006 pageant in Los Angeles. This milestone paved the way for her successful modeling career, where she worked internationally and even served as a television reporter in Sri Lanka before transitioning to acting.


Bollywood Breakthrough

Jacqueline’s foray into Bollywood was almost accidental. During a modeling stint in India in 2009, she auditioned for Sujoy Ghosh’s fantasy film “Aladin” and landed the lead role opposite Amitabh Bachchan and Riteish Deshmukh. Her impressive debut performance earned her the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year – Female.

Her breakthrough came with the thriller “Murder 2” (2011), which became her first major box-office success. Over the next few years, she cemented her position in Bollywood with a string of hits, including:
