BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha strongly condemned Congress leaders for allegedly using police forces to assault women workers who demanded the implementation of promises made during the election campaign. In a scathing tweet on X, she questioned, “Is this the birthday gift Sonia Gandhi gives to the women of Telangana?”
Kavitha accused the Congress government of betraying all sections of society by failing to fulfill the promises made during the election, despite being in power for a year. She criticized the Congress leadership for brutally loading Asha workers into police vans during their peaceful protest, which demanded a fixed monthly salary of Rs. 18,000. She compared this treatment to the repression and struggles faced during the Telangana movement.
“Is this the kind of governance Telangana women deserve?” she questioned, pouring down a series of critical inquiries. She also warned that Congress’s oppressive rule would eventually meet its end through the collective spirit of Telangana women, evoking symbols of resistance like Chaakali Ailamma and the resilient hands of Bathukamma women.
Kavitha reiterated that power is not eternal and urged Congress to address the issues faced by Telangana women instead of resorting to force and repression.
