British media outlet The Independent has recognized late Indian actor Irrfan Khan among the 60 greatest actors of the 21st century. Khan is the only Indian actor featured in the prestigious list, securing the 41st position. Renowned figures like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Kamal Haasan were not included in the list.
Irrfan Khan, who passed away on April 29, 2020, due to complications from a neuroendocrine tumor, was celebrated for his exceptional performances across Indian and international cinema. The actor underwent treatment for the rare condition in the UK before returning to India for continued care in Mumbai.
During the filming of his final movie, Angrezi Medium, Khan faced significant health challenges, taking brief breaks to complete the project. Despite his efforts, he could not recover fully and passed away at the age of 53. Khan’s inclusion in the global list is a testament to his lasting impact on cinema.
