Senior IPS officer P S R Anjaneyulu, who is notorious for his proximity with the former chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy and presently kept on waiting without a post, has served for a long time as Transport Commissioner during YCP regime. His large-scale irregularities are coming out now. In the same case, he has sent TDP leaders to jail, but left out officials involved in such fraud. Moreover, they were given `clean chit’ and also promoted.
In 2020, the YCP government filed cases against former MLA and TDP leader JC Prabhakar Reddy and his family on the allegations that two companies from Tadipatri of Anantapur district purchased Bharat Stage (BS)-3 lorries from Ashok Leyland Company and re-registered them as BS-4.
Soon after a complaint was received from Peddareddy, who won as Tadipatri MLA in 2019, as transport commissioner PSR Sitaramanjaneyu registered cases and arrested JC Prabhakar Reddy and his son Asmit Reddy, who were sent to jail.
However, though it was confirmed that 17 officials, including Anantapur Deputy Transport Commissioner (DTC), RTOs, MVIs, AMVIs, AOs and others were involved in this case, they were left by simply given charge memos. Even they were not suspended, but given `clean chit’ by doping charges against them and some of them were promoted. Even their increments were slashed.
Meanwhile, an oil tanker scam came to light in 2021 within the Sullurpet Transport Department office. No Objection Documents (NOCs) were brought for 80 tankers from Nagaland and re-registrations were done at Sullurpet MVI office. But the actual tankers are not there.
However, the transport officials colluded with the RTA agents and ran this scam. When this scam came out, the police arrested the RTA agents from Vijayawada who were key in it. Cases were registered against the Sullurpet MVI, AOs, senior and junior assistants as well as the RTO who was supposed to monitor it, as they failed.
They were in hiding for many days and later got bail from the court. But since PSR Anjaneyulu protected them without taking any further action. Even they were not suspended. After that, the Commissioner of Inquiries conducted an inquiry into the scandal.
It was concluded that the respective officers and employees are responsible for this and recommended to be removed from service. It is noteworthy that now they are lobbying to get them out the same way they got rid of the officials in the case of Tadipatri lorries in the past.
