Indian Armed Forces Given Full Operational Freedom to Tackle Terrorism: PM Modi

New Delhi: In response to the terror attack in Pahalgam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a critical security meeting on Tuesday to assess the situation and discuss measures to strengthen national security. The meeting, which took place at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Delhi, lasted for over 90 minutes and focused on the country’s security landscape following the incident.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and other senior security officials were present at the meeting. The discussions centered on the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack, the current security environment along the borders, and internal security issues. Key strategies for countering terrorism and safeguarding the nation’s security were also deliberated upon.

Prime Minister Modi expressed full confidence in the capabilities of the Indian Armed Forces, emphasizing that eradicating terrorism remains a national priority. He assured that the Indian military would be given complete operational freedom to take necessary actions against terrorist threats. Modi also made it clear that those responsible for the Pahalgam attack would face a strong and appropriate response.

Home Ministry Holds Parallel Meeting

On the same day, the Ministry of Home Affairs held a separate meeting to review the security situation. The meeting, chaired by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, involved the Director Generals of key Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), including the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), National Security Guard (NSG), and Assam Rifles.

The meeting focused on reviewing the actions taken in the wake of the Pahalgam attack and evaluating the security arrangements and coordination among various security forces.
