The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for several districts in Andhra Pradesh for the next 24 hours due to anticipated severe weather conditions. In response to this alert, a holiday has been declared for both government and private educational institutions across the affected districts on September 2. The district collectors have officially announced the closure of educational institutions to ensure the safety of students and staff.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has supported the decision, emphasizing that educational institutions will remain closed on Monday. He has issued a stern warning to private educational institutions, stating that strict action will be taken against those failing to adhere to the closure orders. Over the past two days, heavy rains have caused significant damage across the state, resulting in flooding in numerous areas. The state has reported nine fatalities due to the severe weather, with one person currently missing.
