IAS, IPS Panic In Andhra Pradesh With Poll Code

The ruling YSRCP has expected that assembly polls in the state will be in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections, so that it can manage the electioneering with the iron-grip it has cultivated over the administration for the last five years. However, two developments are feared to be at the disadvantage of the ruling party.

Firstly, the Election Commission decided to conduct polls in the state in the fourth phase, on May 13. So, the polls are nearly two months away from now. Ministers and senior leaders of YSRCP are fearing that it would be difficult for them to continue their present grip on the administration for such a long time.

Moreover, a panic situation prevailed among senior IAS and IPS officers as their future may be at risk with possible change of government in the state. Particularly, the AP High Court verdict canceling AP State Service Commission’s Group-1 main examinations, sending shocking sentiments.

The High Court in its verdict clearly established large scale irregularities in the APSSC in the valuation of the examination papers. Further details were revealed by TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu at a press conference on Friday.

In a powerpoint presentation, he specifically named two senior IPS officers, making them responsible for these irregularities. They are APSSC Chairman Gautam Sawang and the then secretary PSR Anjaneyulu. It may be recalled that as ACB chief PSR Anjaneyulu played a pro-active role in the arrest of Chandrababu Naidu last year.

Demanding CBI probe into these irregularities, he demanded stern action against those two senior IPS officers. Chandrababu’s statement indicated that if became the next chief minister both of them would be suspended immediately. His statement has sent shocking waves among other senior officers.

Many YSRCP leaders are finding that already several senior officers are playing a ‘safe game’ and fearing they may not cooperate with the ruling party during polling time. Except few officers, who are closely identified with the chief minister, due to their social relationship, most of them already reportedly started contacting some senior TDP leaders to cultivate some approach.

Revanth asserts Sharmila is real heir of YSR

Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy declared that APCC chief YS Sharmila is the real hair of late chief minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy. Addressing his first public meeting in Andhra Pradesh at Visakhapatnam, after taking up Congress leadership in Telangana, he also said that `YSR means Y Sharmila Reddy’.

He recalled that in the united Andhra Pradesh, YS had marched from Chevella to Ichhapuram on behalf of the people and was the main reason behind the formation of the UPA government at the center, besides bringing the Congress party to power in 2004 in the state.

Referring to chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s proximity with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he deplored that presently the people who claim to be the descendants of YS are siding with the fanatical forces. If the ruler here is silent on the carnage in Manipur, he recalled that only Sharmila has shown guts to point it out.

He also mentioned that YS Rajasekhar Reddy, as the leader of the opposition, denounced the carnage in Godhra when Modi was the chief minister. He made it clear that no one will be the successor of YS if surrenders to fanatical forces.

Asserting that Sharmila is the heiress of YS Rashekhar Reddy, he said YSR is in her name. YSR stands for Y Sharmila Reddy. He expressed concern that after Rajasekhar Reddy voices of questioning were silent in Andhra Pradesh. He alleged that both the leaders who are not competing for power in the state, YS Jagan and Chandrababu Naidu are not ready to question the Delhi rulers on the injustice being done to the state, but only come to power and continue at the mercy of Delhi.

He said that was the reason even ten years after the separation of this state, Polavaram has not been completed, special status has not been given and construction of Amaravati capital has not been done.

Mentioning that BJP vote share in the state is less than NOTA votes, Revanth Reddy said that  Modi has no strength of his own in AP. “The leaders of the regional parties here are everything to him. BJP means Babu, Jagan and Pawan. Whichever one of them wins will go to Delhi and bow down”, he added.

To protect the Visakha Steel Plant, he said we need leaders who will convince the elders of Delhi and Sharmila is the right person for that. Do Jagan, Babu, Pawan have the guts to stand before Modi

“If you give Congress 5 MP and 25 MLA seats in AP in the next election, we can save the Visakha Steel Plant. No one will dare to come near this plant. Sharmila will become the CM in the future”,  he added.
