Hyderabad Youth Sentenced To 8 Years In US For White House Attack

A United States court has sentenced Sai Kandula, a 20-year-old from Hyderabad, to eight years in prison for his attack on the White House. Kandula, who admitted to the crime in court, was charged with attempting to destabilize a democratically elected government, a motive highlighted during sentencing.  

The incident occurred on May 13, 2024, when Kandula, originally from Chandanagar in Hyderabad, rammed a truck into the barricades outside the White House at approximately 9:35 PM. The collision caused panic, with people fleeing the area in fear. Following the crash, Kandula exited the vehicle, retrieved a Nazi flag, and attempted to display it.  

Swift action by security personnel led to his immediate arrest. The court has now handed down a prison sentence, underscoring the severity of the offense.
