Stating that technology is very crucial in controlling crime, Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha has instructed senior police officers that no one should compromise on maintaining law and order. She said that priority should be given to the safety of children and women. She conducted a state-level review on law and order held at the DGP office in Mangalagiri on Friday along with DGP Harish Kumar Gupta.
Speaking on the occasion, she said that a high-level review on law and order will be held every three months. She congratulated the police for their efforts in organizing the Legislative Assembly sessions with tight security. She also said that effective security arrangements should be made for the District Collectors’ Conference to be held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister on 25th and 26th of this month.
Anitha said that special attention should be paid to cases with legal complications. She said that the Police Department should continuously coordinate with the Revenue Department to resolve revenue-related cases more quickly. She said that regular surveillance should be kept on the movements of rowdy-sheeters and former rowdy-sheeters across the state.
The Home minister spoke to the SPs of the districts on the progress in the installation of CCTV cameras. Kurnool Range DIG Koya Praveen explained that about 24,000 CCTV cameras have already been installed in Kurnool, Nandyal and Kadapa districts. The SPs said that they are working towards achieving the targets given by the district-wise DGP Harish Kumar Gupta.
On this occasion, Anitha also inquired about public nuisance cases. Along with the DGP, several DIGs, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam Police Commissioners, SPs of all districts, and police officers in the DGP office attended the review through video conference.
After the review, the State Police Association submitted a memorandum to the Home Minister requesting surrenders and arrears to be given. Meanwhile, some Hijras met the Home Minister Anitha at the DGP office. They thanked the Home Minister for the good response of the government and the police in the recent Anakapalle Hijra murder case.
They submitted a petition regarding the posting of a Hijra. On this occasion, they mentioned that there were jobs in NGOs and one-stop centers in the past. They appealed to the Minister to provide employment opportunities to Hijras who are educated and want to earn a living by doing a respectable job based on all the qualifications.
