Home Minister Anitha Asked officials To Be Alert As Heavy Rains Lashing The state

Home Minister Anitha has cautioned the officials to be alert on the heavy rains lashing the state due to the depression in the west-central Bay of Bengal. In this context, the minister conducted a review at the Secretariat. Instructions were issued to the authorities due to the heavy rains in Eluru, Repalle and Ponnur areas.

Moreover, farmers in AP are experiencing a wave of mixed emotions as the southwest monsoon is set to arrive earlier than expected. Officials were asked to take steps to ensure that the people of the waterlogged low-lying areas do not face any difficulty. As the Tungabhadra and Vedavati rivers are flowing in Kurnool district, the people there have been alerted and if necessary, they have been instructed to take preventive measures.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has already warned that heavy rains will lash North Andhra, Tirupati, Chittoor, Nellore, YSR Kadapa, Annamayya, Sathya Sai, Anantapur, Kurnool and Nandyal districts for the next 2 days. In this order, the district authorities of the revenue, municipal, irrigation, disaster, electricity, roads and buildings departments should be constantly alert.

As there is a possibility of rain in Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Both Godavari districts, Krishna, Guntur and Bapatla districts, the disaster management department should be prepared and information like lightning, thunder, floods and gusty winds should be sent to the mobile phones of the people of the respective areas from time to time.

It is suggested to alert through IVRS phone calls and prevent loss of life and property. As there is a possibility of gusty winds blowing at a speed of 50-60 kilometers per hour, it is necessary to focus on stopping the power supply in advance without any accidents.

On the other hand, the disaster management department should be prepared in all ways as there is a possibility of the actively moving southwest monsoon hitting Kerala earlier than expected. The IMD has given a key update on the southwest monsoon. The IMD has revealed that it will hit Kerala in the next 4-5 days.
