Home Minister Vangalapudi Anita appreciated that the police caught the accused within 48 hours in the incident of rape of mother and daughter-in-law in Sri Sathyasai district. She said that as per the orders of the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, the decision has been taken to hand over the case to a special court to punish the accused speedily.
She said that even though the CCTV cameras were broken, the police chased them for 200 kilometers and searched for them even in the hills and finally caught them within 48 hours. She said that they are all people with criminal history. Among them, there are three minors and there are many cases against them.
She revealed that efforts are being made to monitor through CC cameras. She said that crime control will be possible if people install CCTV cameras at their homes and commercial complexes are connected to the police department. She appealed to the people to use mobile phones as weapons and help police in crime control.
The Home Minister assured that the details of the informants and those providing videos related to crime will be kept confidential. She said there were 37 cases against one of the five accused, including allegations of rape. She made it clear that crimes against women and children cannot be ignored under any circumstances, besides will be given top priority.
Anita said drones should be used where there are no cameras. If drones are not available, mobile phones should be used, she said. The Home Minister has made it clear that the perpetrator should not escape under any circumstances and is taking great care in the matter of women’s safety.
She said that special courts are being set up without delay in such cases and the CM speaks directly even if there is a minor incident regarding the safety of women. He said that the CM immediately called the SP about the incident and is getting the details. He was warned to fear even the thought of committing a crime.
