Former YSRCP minister Merugu Nagarjuna got relief in the AP High Court. The High Court quashed the rape case registered against him. A woman from Vijayawada filed a complaint against former minister Merugu Nagarjuna at the Tadepalli police station in November last year, alleging that she was sexually harassed. The police have registered a case based on the complaint.
The victim from Vijayawada has alleged in her complaint that Merugu Nagarjuna took Rs. 90 lakhs on the promise of giving her a job. She has also claimed that he used her physically and raped her several times. She has now expressed her grief that if she asks him to return her money, he is threatening to kill her.
The complaint states that Merugu Nagarjuna’s PA Murali is threatening stating that he killed the tribal teacher in Visakhapatnam with slow poison and that the same fate will befall on her. She has requested that she be given Rs. 90 lakhs to come to her.
The police have registered a case based on the complaint of the victim. However, Nagarjuna brought to the attention of the High Court that the woman who complained about the case being quashed against her had given a false statement that she had filed a false complaint.
The woman also filed an affidavit stating that she had filed a false complaint against Nagarjuna and that she had no objection if the police quashed the case. But the bench did not immediately agree to quash it. It deplored that in recent times it became practice of first filing a complaint and later approaching the court seeking to quash the case.
The High Court warned that if it is found that the complainant filed a false complaint, the case will not be quashed even when the victim woman requested it. The police also continued the investigation into the case. However, the woman did not cooperate. Due to this, the police also had nothing to investigate.
Finally, the High Court decided to quash the case. Since the rape case was serious, Nagarjuna immediately came to an understanding with the complainant and gave her the money due to her and withdrew the case.
It is said that the YCP lawyers took care of those matters as well. After losing power, cases are being registered against many YSRCP leaders. Many people have become silent as cases are being registered for the irregularities committed while in power. Since the rape case was serious, the former minister tried hard to reach a compromise with the victim woman and achieved what he wanted.
