The political scenario in Andhra Pradesh is seeing some hot developments as the newly established coalition government comes down hard on suspected malpractices during the earlier YSRCP regime. With several YSRCP leaders already in jail and several more under investigation, speculation is building up as to who would be the next one. In the newest development, erstwhile minister Perni Nani has become a subject of controversy for reportedly misusing ration rice, which forced him to file for anticipatory bail at the High Court.
The case concerns allegations that rice meant for distribution through the ration system was diverted illegally from government godowns. Cases have been lodged against Perni Nani and some of his relatives by the authorities on charges of financial irregularities. Minister Nadeem Dla Manohar recently addressed the issue in the Assembly, revealing that officials had already recovered ₹1.70 crore and issued fresh notices demanding another ₹1.67 crore. The case remains under active investigation, with Perni Nani named as Accused No. 6 (A6).
Several key individuals have also been named in the case, including his wife Perni Jayasudha (A1), Manas Tej (A2), Kotireddy (A3), Mangarao (A4), and Balanjaneyulu (A5). As part of the legal proceedings, Perni Jayasudha has already appeared before the Machilipatnam police and managed to secure anticipatory bail.
With the government making it clear that those involved in financial misconduct will face strict legal action, speculations were rife about Perni Nani’s possible arrest. Addressing these rumors, he stated that he remains in Machilipatnam and is prepared to face any legal consequences. To prevent an imminent arrest, he filed a plea for anticipatory bail in the High Court.
Considering the case, the High Court granted anticipatory bail to Perni Nani, giving him major relief in the midst of the ongoing legal struggle.
