BRS MLA and former minister Harish Rao expressed strong criticism of the Union Budget presented today. He remarked that the budget was disheartening, noting that it mentioned “Andhra Pradesh” numerous times while not mentioning “Telangana” even once. He spoke to the media at Media Point, accompanied by MLA Prashanth Reddy.
Harish Rao highlighted that the budget promised to expedite the completion of the Polavaram project, allocate funds for Andhra Pradesh’s capital, and provide financial support to the backward districts in Rayalaseema and other parts of Andhra Pradesh. While commending the specific promises made for Andhra Pradesh, Rao questioned the government’s stance on Telangana. He demanded clarity on what the government plans to do for Telangana.
He questioned how the government could justify the lack of funds allocated to Telangana despite maintaining good relations with the Centre and frequent meetings with central ministers, as claimed by Revanth Reddy. He asserted that the BJP and Congress have jointly wronged Telangana by neglecting its needs in the budget.
