Borugadda Anil Kumar, a notorious rowdy sheeter infamous for his reckless comments targeting opposition leaders during the YSR Congress government’s tenure in Andhra Pradesh, is now encountering serious legal challenges under the current coalition government. Recently apprehended for allegedly blackmailing church treasurer Babu Prakash for ₹50 lakh, Anil Kumar is entangled in multiple ongoing cases. He was transferred to Srikakulam on a transit warrant, and the Guntur court has recently ruled on his legal standing.
In a critical development, the Guntur court denied Anil Kumar’s bail request related to threats made against Babu Prakash. Despite his claims of unfamiliarity with the treasurer, the police presented substantial evidence that led the court to reject his petition.
Anil Kumar has a history of making derogatory remarks about high-profile opposition figures, including Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan, and Nara Lokesh. While he received gunman protection during the YSR Congress administration, reportedly due to his connections with influential party members, recent police interrogations revealed that this security stemmed from his associations with YSRCP leaders. Despite Anil Kumar’s assertions of his ties to the party, YSRCP officials have firmly denied any connection with him, highlighting the complexity of his current legal and political predicament.
