The Group of Ministers (GoM), chaired by minister for municipal administration Dr P Narayana has made it clear that the previous policy will be continued in the matter of land allocations made as part of the construction of the capital city of Amaravati. The GoM met on land allocations to institutions in the capital city of Amaravati on Monday.
State Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav, State Industries Minister TG. Bharat, Excise Ministers Kollu Ravindra and Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh attended the meeting. After the meeting, Minister Narayana said “We have allocated lands to 131 people in the past. Out of them, we have decided to continue the allocations made to 31 institutions as they were”.
“We have decided to allocate them in a different place than the one previously allocated to two institutions. We have changed the location and scope of 16 institutions,” he added. Till 2019, he said that Rs. 9,000 crore government money has been spent on the construction of the capital.
The ministers were furious that the previous government had completely destroyed Amaravati with three pieces. After legal complications, it was revealed that tenders worth Rs. 48,000 crores have been opened. They said that a letter of agreement will be issued to the contracting companies soon. They made it clear that the capital work will start immediately.
Payyavula Keshav said, “Amaravati is a self-sustainable project. We have designed the project in such a way that the majority of the funds will be provided by CRDA. That is all we are providing temporary support from the state government. We are also providing funds in the form of loans through external organizations”.
“We have designed every rupee spent as part of the construction of Amaravati in such a way that after development in the future, all the debts will be paid by selling the lands. We have taken all measures so that there is no burden on the state government treasury”, he added.
