Governor Nazir says AP bifurcated Unscientifically, Lost capital Hyderabad

AP Governor Justice Abdul Nazir said that the united Andhra Pradesh was bifurcated unscientifically without negotiating with the partners and as a result AP lost capital Hyderabad and remained an indelible mark in the hearts of the people of the state.

Addressing joint sessions of AP Assembly, he said that chaos was caused due to the reorganization of the state and the people of the state will not see development and progress for a long time. He said that due to the division of the state, AP pushed into financial loss.

He asserted that the present government is committed to the inclusive development of Andhra Pradesh. In 2014, the Governor said that Chandrababu Naidu worked hard for the development of AP. From 2014 to 2019, the flood of investments continued in the state. Many companies have come forward to invest in the state.

However, he deplored that since the YCP government came to power in 2019, all sectors in the state have suffered losses and investors who came during Chandrababu’s regime have turned back. He said that between 2019-2024, the state has gone into debt trap.

The Governor said that the Bifurcation Act did not provide enough compensation for the development of Andhra Pradesh and there was inequality in the distribution of assets and debts. He reminded that only 46 percent of the resources were inherited due to unscientific division.

He said the loss of the capital Hyderabad caused economic damage and inherited a huge revenue deficit. He explained that electricity was distributed based on assets and consumption on the basis of area, educational institutions were divided without any base, and because of this, higher educational institutions were lost.

Governor recalled that the per capita income in combined AP was Rs. 1,06,176, which had fallen to Rs. 93,121 after bifurcation. He said that the division of the state had a negative impact and reminded that the challenges were due to unresolved issues.

He said that Chandrababu’s government turned the crisis caused by bifurcation into an opportunity and laid the foundation for Sunrise Andhra Pradesh. It has focused on sea coast and port based development.

Stating that the Chandrababu government has focused on the environment necessary for manufacturing activities, he clarified that there was a clear balance between development and welfare during the period 2014-19.

The governor reminded that Pattiseema was completed in a record time of one year connecting Godavari and Krishna rivers and  Polavaram project was 72 percent completed.  He said that the new secretariat and legislative building have been constructed. The Governor concluded his speech by saying that the development between 2014-19 was possible due to Chandrababu’s visionary leadership.
