Ram Charan will have his first release in three years with the upcoming political thriller Game Changer. The Shankar Shanmugam directional will hit the screens on January 10th. As this is Charan’s solo outing after attaining pan-India popularity with Rajamouli’s RRR, there are massive expectations in both trade circles and moviegoers.
After the stupendous success of RRR, Charan claims himself as Global Star due to the widespread acclaim he received all over the world. Now, he will need to prove his box office stamina with Game Changer to justify the tag. Shankar is a renowned director who has got fame all over the nation. The film is made on a solid budget with lavish production values. The songs and the teaser created enough excitement.
Unfortunately, the response for pre-bookings is not on par with the expectations and hype surrounding this pan-India action spectacle. Game Changer is undoubtedly the most anticipated film from Tollywood during Sankranti season. The other films in competition are no way a match to Game Changer because they are just banking only on Telugu States market.
Quite surprisingly, Game Changer has so far didn’t excite even the Overseas audience as well. Despite a massive promotional event in Dallas, the pre-sales in North America are not so promising as they have managed to cross just quarter a million as of now.
Some of the recent biggies like Salaar, Kalki 2898AD, Devara and Pushpa 2 created a storm with their openings in USA. But, Game Changer is not anywhere closer to these biggies. It is very disappointing that Game Changer is unable to catch up with at least NTR’s Devara which was directed by Koratala Siva, who is no match to Shankar’s popularity.
All eyes are now on the theatrical trailer which is going to be out on December 30th. Trade analysts believe that a power-packed and scintillating trailer cut is highly anticipated to boost the advance sales.
So far, there is hardly any buzz in Hindi circuits as well. The trailer will need to create huge anticipation in Bollywood to get minimum openings in North India. Charan cannot miss out on the big opportunity to expand his market beyond Telugu States.
