Former Andhra Pradesh minister Vidadala Rajini finds herself in deeper legal trouble, as fresh allegations of corruption have triggered another official investigation. A new complaint filed by local resident Mallela Sivanageswara Rao has prompted the district collector to order a probe, marking yet another blow to Rajini’s already embattled political image.
The complaint accuses Rajini, during her time in office, of colluding with her brother-in-law Gopi and a municipal town planner to illegally approve permissions for 18 large buildings, allegedly in exchange for bribes. Responding swiftly, the collector has instructed the municipal commissioner to examine all related construction plans and verify if the building approvals were granted unlawfully.
This development comes amid growing suspicions over irregularities in building permits across Chilakaluripet, with many residents raising eyebrows at the involvement of Rajini’s family. The issue has been simmering for some time, but the latest complaint has added fuel to the fire.
Interestingly, since the change in government, Gopi—Rajini’s brother-in-law—has reportedly fled to Germany. While Rajini maintains that he is a German citizen, critics argue that he played a pivotal role in various questionable dealings during her tenure as a minister.
This isn’t the only controversy surrounding Rajini. She is also under investigation in a separate extortion case, where she allegedly threatened the owner of a stone crushing unit to extract money. In this matter, Rajini is seeking anticipatory bail in a bid to avoid arrest, while police claim to have strong supporting evidence against her.
