Former SIB chief Prabhakar Rao Attend Before probe panel on Jun 5 In phone Tapping case

Prabhakar Rao, a retired IPS officer and former chief of the Special Intelligence Branch (SIB), who is facing charges as the main accused in the sensational phone tapping case in Telangana state, is returning home. He has informed the investigation team that he will appear for questioning in the case on June 5.

He has written an undertaking letter to the Supreme Court stating that he will fully cooperate in the phone tapping case. It is understood that Prabhakar Rao left for India immediately after receiving the one-time entry passport. He is returning to India from the US on the orders of the Supreme Court.

It is known that the Supreme Court has already ordered Prabhakar Rao to come to India within three days of receiving the passport. He has been hiding in the US for the last 14 months. On the other hand, since Prabhakar Rao is a key accused in the case, the investigation team believes that if he is interrogated, the case will come to a conclusion.

The Revanth Reddy government that came to power has identified that the phones of key leaders of the opposition parties and disgruntled leaders of its own party were tapped during the previous BRS government. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted to probe into this.

The retired IPS officer Prabhakar Rao, who had sensed this matter in advance, had gone to the United States. The SIT officials have already arrested all those involved in this case and have conducted a comprehensive investigation. As part of that, several key matters have come to light.

The SIT officials have identified Prabhakar Rao as the key accused in this case. Efforts have been made to bring him back to his homeland. In that order, he approached the Supreme Court. He alleged that the Revanth Reddy government had targeted him.

Moreover, in his petition, he requested the Supreme Court to order the government not to arrest him in advance. With this, his petition was heard by Supreme Court judges Justice B.V. Nagaratnamma and Justice Satish Chandra Sharma. The court made it clear that no action should be taken against him until the hearing. He should be given a passport to return to his country.
