Former MP Manda Jagannadham passed away

Former Nagarkurnool MP Manda Jagannadham, who had been suffering from health problems for some time, passed away on Sunday night while undergoing treatment at NIMS. His last rites will be performed at Santoshnagar crematorium at 3 pm on Monday.

The Telangana state government has decided to conduct the funeral of Manda Jagannadham with official honours. The government has issued orders to the Hyderabad Collector in this regard. Manda Jagannadham was born on May 22, 1951, to Peddapullaiah and Manda Savaramma in Konduru village of Itikyal mandal, present-day Erravalli mandal, Jogulamba Gadwal district.

His father worked as a watchman in the mechanical department of the Pylon Colony in Nagarjuna Sagar, and his mother worked as an office attendant in Savaramma Hill Colony. After completing his education, he continued his medical career. He contested from the TDP in the united state and won as the Nagarkurnool MP. He also continued as a member of the Party Politburo.

Later, he joined the Congress party after some time. He contested as an MP from the TDP and Congress parties in the 1996, 1999, 2004, and 2009 elections and won. He followed in KCR’s footsteps in the 2014  movement for a separate Telangana. He sacrificed his MP post during the separate Telangana movement.

After the formation of a separate Telangana, his son contested as an MLA from Alampur constituency, and Manda Jagannatham contested as an MP from Nagarkurnool from the BRS party, but did not win. However, he was with KCR. Recognizing his services, KCR gave him a chance twice in Delhi as a special representative of the State government with cabinet status.

Manda Jagannatham has two sons and a daughter. With the death of Manda Jagannatham, the entire Nagarkurnool parliamentary constituency and Alampur assembly constituency were plunged into mourning.

CM Revanth Reddy praised Jagannath’s role as a Nagarkurnool Lok Sabha member and said a great social Telangana activist as unforgettable. He said that he played a key role in the formation of a separate Telangana and that Jagannath’s death is a huge loss for Telangana.

Former CM KCR expressed grief over Jagannath’s death. The BRS chief recalled Jagannath’s efforts and the services he provided to the party during the Telangana movement. Union Minister Bandi Sanjay, former ministers KTR and Harish Rao, and many BRS leaders expressed their condolences to Jagannath’s family members on the death of Jagannath.
