Former MP, BJP Leader Ramesh Rathore passes Away

Former MP and BJP leader Ramesh Rathore passed away after falling critically ill at his Utnoor residence late Friday night. Rushed to a nearby district hospital by his family, his condition deteriorated on the way to Hyderabad, where he tragically passed away. Ramesh Rathore, who served as the Zilla Parishad chairman and MLA of Khanapur, had been battling health issues reportedly stemming from a past surgery, which ultimately led to his demise. The state also mourns the loss of senior Congress leader D. Srinivas, who passed away on the same day, casting a pall over the political landscape.

Ramesh Rathore began his political journey as the Narnoor ZPTC from the Telugu Desam Party and later served two terms as MLA for Khanapur. He represented the constituency in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly from 1999 to 2004 and chaired the Adilabad Zilla Parishad from 2006 to 2009. In 2009, he was elected to the 15th Lok Sabha as an MP. He later shifted to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi briefly before joining the Congress party, where he contested unsuccessfully for both the Khanapur Legislative Assembly and the Adilabad Parliament seats. Rathore subsequently joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2021 but faced electoral defeat in the 2023 Khanapur Legislative Assembly elections.
