Former MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi Granted Bail in Kidnapping Case

YSR Congress Party leader and former MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi has been let out on bail by the SC/ST Special Court in Vijayawada in a sensational kidnapping and threat case. The court order, issued on Tuesday, also allowed four other co-accused individuals to be released on bail.

The case is connected with the 2023 incident of a Gannavaram office attack of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Vamsi was arrested by the Andhra Pradesh police on February 13, 2025, from Hyderabad for his alleged involvement in the incident.

Main witness Mudunuri Satyavardhan, originally named in the case, had previously told the court that he was not associated with the case. But, in a twist of events, Satyavardhan came forward to the police with a complaint against Vallabhaneni Vamsi for kidnapping and forcing him to file a false affidavit before court.

According to this complaint, the authorities booked a case against Vamsi on serious charges such as kidnapping, criminal intimidation, and SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act sections.

This is not the first legal reprieve for Vamsi. He had earlier been released on bail in the case of the TDP office attack. With the latest bail being obtained in the kidnapping case, the former MLA can now walk free after remaining judicial custody for nearly three months.
